The Bay Area Jazz Festival

Saturday, February 27, 2016

The mission of the Bay Area Jazz Festival is to provide an adjudicated jazz festival for middle and high school jazz ensembles that will focus on jazz education and performance.  Students who participate will receive immediate feedback through post-performance clinics.  Additional jazz education through master classes will be presented by St. Petersburg jazz trumpeter James Suggs, and jazz bassist Saadi Zain of New York City.

Students will be adjudicated by some of the state’s top jazz clinicians.  The Festival committee is proud to welcome JB Scott from the University of North Florida and Jack Wilkins from the University of South Florida to the adjudicating panel.

The Festival will close with a showcase concert at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center.  The concert will feature the top three scoring ensembles and performances by the James Suggs Quintet and Saadi Zain.
